FBI: Osumnjičeni za teroristički napad u New Orleansu djelovao je sam

FBI kaže da sada vjeruje da je osumnjičeni za novogodišnji napad kamiona u New Orleansu u kojem je ubijeno 14 ljudi djelovao sam.

Zvaničnici FBI-a izvijestili su novinare u četvrtak o posljednjoj istrazi o "terorističkom činu" u kojem je osumnjičeni, 42-godišnji Shamsud-Din Jabbar, udario kamionet u gomilu i otvorio vatru u popularnoj gradskoj ulici Bourbon.

Ranije su zvaničnici rekli da ne vjeruju da je djelovao sam. Jabbar je ubijen u pucnjavi s policijom

"Ubica je bio američki državljanin rođen u Teksasu", rekao je u srijedu navečer američki predsjednik Joe Biden. "Služio je u vojsci Sjedinjenih Država u aktivnoj službi dugi niz godina. Također je služio u rezervnom sastavu vojske do prije nekoliko godina."

Nekoliko sati ranije, osumnjičeni je u video snimcima objavljenim na društvenim mrežama pokazao da je napad inspirisan terorističkom grupom Islamska država. FBI je saopštio da je zastava Islamske države pronađena u vozilu nakon napada.

Biden je rekao da policija i obavještajna zajednica traže bilo kakve potencijalne "veze, udruženja ili saučesnike".

"Toliko ljudi širom svijeta voli New Orleans zbog njegove historije, njegove kulture i prije svega njegovih ljudi", rekao je Biden. "Dakle, znam, dok je ova osoba izvršila užasan napad na grad, duh našeg New Orleansa nikada, nikada, nikada neće biti poražen. Uvijek će sijati."
