Hrišćani širom svijeta proslavljaju Božić, a među porukama najjače je odjeknula ona koju je poslao papa Franjo. U božićnoj poslanici “Urbi et Orbi” pozvao je na mir na Bliskom istoku i postizanje rješenja o dvije države.

To je drugi put da je papa Franjo govorio o takvom rješenju nakon što je američki predsjednik Donald Trump odlučio da SAD priznaju Jerusalim kao glavni grad Izraela.

Nakon tradicionalne ponoćne mise u bazilici Svetog Petra u Vatikanu, papa Franjo je u ponedjeljak ujutro pročitao svoju poruku “gradu i svijetu”. Pred 50 hiljada vjernika u Vatikanu, uputio je i politički apel.

“Danas kada slavimo, pomolimo se Bogu za mir u Jerusalimu i Svetoj zemlji. Pomolimo se da dijalog prevagne i da se konačno ispregovara rješenje koje će omogućiti mirnu koegzistenciju dvije države u okviru međusobno i međunarodno priznatih granica.”

Papa Franjo je pozvao i na mir na Korejskom poluostrvu i osvrnuo se na krizu sa Rohindžama u Mijanmaru koji je nedavno posjetio.

“Nadam se da će međunarodna zajednica nastaviti da radi na tome da osigura bezbjednost i zaštiti dostojanstvo svih manjnskih grupa u tom regionu.”
